Dumaine goal tops Transylvania

A goal by senior forward Jennie Dumaine (California, Ky.) kept the Hanover College women’s soccer team perfect in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The Panthers held off Transylvania University (Ky.), 1-0, Wednesday, Oct. 3, at L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex.

Dumaine notched her second goal of the season after playing a cross from sophomore midfielder Erin Hancock (Amelia, Ohio) past Transylvania's goalkeeper from six yards out early in the 19th minute.

Transylvania threatened to score multiple times during the clash. The Pioneers outshot Hanover 12-5, including a 5-1 margin in the second period.

Despite the advantage, the Panthers' senior goalkeeper Bethann Hancock (Lexington, Ky.) held the shutout, picking up five saves in the match.

The win improves Hanover's record to 9-2 overall and 2-0 in the Heartland Conference. Transylvania, meanwhile, falls to 5-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.
