Hanover edged in five at Mount St. Joseph

The Hanover College volleyball squad lost in five sets at the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio). The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match was played Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Delhi, Ohio.

The Panthers captured wins in two of the first three sets before Mount St. Joseph rallied to win, 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Senior outside hitters Sarah Quebe (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Ashleigh Burakiewicz (Greenwood, Ind.) totaled 25 kills to lead Hanover’s attack.

Quebe led the squad with 14 kills and added six block assists. Burakiewicz had 11 kills and nine digs.

Freshman setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) and junior Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) combined for 41 assists. Deaton tallied a team-best 23 assists and Wagner added 18.

Junior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) posted a match-high 21 digs.

Freshman middle hitter Nicole Hoene (Seymour, Ind.) led the Panthers’ defensive front with three solo blocks and five block assists.

Hanover dipped to 12-11 overall and 2-2 in the HCAC with the setback. Mount St. Joseph raised its mark to 7-11 overall and 4-0 in the league.
