Hanover College’s women’s tennis team evened its season record with an 8-1 victory against Defiance College (Ohio), Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
Hanover swept wins in all six singles matches and captured victories in two of the three doubles matches to improve to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Junior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) and freshman Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) led the Panthers’ charge with two of the singles wins.
Miller defeated Defiance’s Kirsten Weiland, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1. Poston, meanwhile, handled the Yellow Jackets’ Maria Weber, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5.
Junior Amanda Learned (Noblesville, Ind.) and sophomore Kalynne Miller (Greenwood, Ind.) combined for an 8-4 victory against Weber and Bethany Brown at No. 2 doubles.
Hanover picked up default wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Defiance, traveling with just five players, dipped to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the HCAC with the setback.
