Volleyball sweeps Bluffton to even mark

Hanover College’s volleyball team evened its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference record with a three-set sweep of Bluffton University (Ohio). The HCAC match was held Saturday, Oct. 13, in Bluffton, Ohio.

Hanover, now 13-12, earned a 25-18, 25-19, 25-15, victory against the Beavers. The triumph snapped the Panthers’ three-match skid and raised the squad’s league mark to 3-3.

Senior outside hitter Ashleigh Burakiewicz (Greenwood, Ind.) totaled a match-high eight kills to lead Hanover’s attack and also had 15 digs.

Junior setter Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) tallied 17 assists and freshman Allie Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) added 14 to help ignite the offense.

Freshman middle hitter Nicole Hoene (Seymour, Ind.) posted two solo blocks and six block assists, while junior Kylie Jusus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) had a match-best 16 digs to key the defense.

With the setback, Bluffton slipped to 13-12 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
