The Hanover College volleyball team capped a weekend in Ohio with a five-set loss at Defiance College (Ohio). The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match was played Sunday, Oct. 14, in Defiance, Ohio.
Hanover fell to the Yellow Jackets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-16, 19-25, 15-13. The outing marked the Panthers’ seventh five-set match this season and third in the team’s last five contests.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Quebe (Indianapolis, Ind.) led Hanover’s attack with 15 kills. Junior Megan Keller (Cincinnati, Ohio) had eight kills and sophomore Jenny Merritt (Indianapolis, Ind.) added seven.
Junior Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) and freshman Allie Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) combined for 41 assists.
Junior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.), freshman Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) and Keller each tallied double-digit digs. Justus had a team-best 18, while Hartman had 15 and Keller added a season-high 10.
With the loss, Hanover’s stands 13-13 overall and 3-4 in the Heartland Conference. Defiance improved to 14-10 overall and 4-2 in the league.
