Hanover College’s volleyball team rallied from an early deficit to defeat Anderson University in five sets in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match, Friday, Oct. 19, in Collier Arena.
After dropping two of the first three sets, the Panthers rebounded to post a 22-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 19-17 victory in the squad’s eighth five-set battle this season.
The triumph raised Hanover’s record to 14-13 overall and 4-4 in the league.
Senior outside hitter Sarah Quebe (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied a career-high 18 kills to lead the Panthers’ attack. Senior Ashleigh Burakiewicz (Greenwood, Ind.) and freshman Rachel Regenauer (Louisville, Ky.) added 12 kills apiece.
Freshman setter Allie Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) piled up a season-best 35 assists and junior Kelsey Wagner (Taylor Mill, Ky.) added 26 of her own to help fuel Hanover’s offense.
Junior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) posted 34 digs, while Burakiewicz had 25 and freshman Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) added 16.
The loss was the third in a row for Anderson, which bumped the Ravens’ record to 9-17 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Conference.
