Hanover College’s volleyball squad secured a berth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament and retained possession of the Victory Ball Trophy with a three-game sweep of Franklin College.
The Panthers’ HCAC regular-season finale was played Wednesday, Oct. 24, in Franklin, Ind.
Hanover posted a 25-12, 29-27, 25-18 win against Franklin to maintain possession of the Victory Ball for the sixth consecutive season. The triumph raised the Panthers’ record to 17-13 overall and 5-4 in the league.
Hanover will be the No. 5 seed in the Heartland Conference tournament. The Panthers will open play, Tuesday, Oct. 30, at No. 4 Defiance College (Ohio).
Freshman outside hitter Rachel Regenauer (Louisville, Ky.) tallied 12 kills and senior front-line mate Ashleigh Burakiewicz (Greenwood, Ind.) added 11 to power Hanover's attack.
Freshman setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) totaled 22 assists to jumpstart the offense.
Junior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) led the Panthers with 25 digs, while junior Megan Keller (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) added 15 apiece.
With the loss, Franklin dropped to 8-19 overall and 1-7 in the Heartland Conference.
