Senior forward Courtney Prater (Anderson, Ind.) has become the 13th player in Hanover College women’s basketball history to record more than 1,000 career points (1,021).
Prater netted a team-high 23 points to lead Hanover to a come-from-behind, 80-77, overtime victory against Centre College (Ky.) in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, Dec. 28, in Montgomery, Ala.
She entered the game with 998 career points and reached the 1,000-point milestone when she scored from inside just 100 seconds into the contest.
A three-time all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference selection, Prater scored 449 points in two seasons at Anderson University before transferring to Hanover prior to the 2011-12 campaign.
She totaled 385 points and averaged a team-high 14.8 points per outing while leading the Panthers to a 21-5 record in her first season on campus.
This winter, Prater leads Hanover with a career-best 18.7 points per outing. The effort includes a career-high 28 points in an overtime loss at Defiance College (Ohio), Dec. 8.
Molly Martin is the leading scorer in school history. Martin poured in 1,887 points for the Panthers from 2007-2011.
