Senior forward Katie Gahimer (St. Paul, Ind.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s women’s basketball player of the week for her output in two games last week.
Gahimer averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks as Hanover split two Heartland Conference contests.
She set a career highs with 19 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots while posting her first career double-double in a 61-55 loss to Transylvania University (Ky.), Feb. 13. She also added two assists and a steal in the setback.
Gahimer raised her career high to 22 points to lead the Panthers to a 74-63 victory against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Feb 16. She also added three steals and two assists.
In the two games, she shot 18-of-34 from the floor (52.9%), including 5-of-11 from three-point range (45.4%).
Heading into the Heartland Conference’s post-season tournament, Gahimer is averaging 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Hanover, 18-7 overall, will tangle with Rose-Hulman, Friday, Feb. 22, in the first round of the HCAC tourney. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. in Lexington, Ky.
