Hermes tabbed MLC player of the week

Hanover College sophomore Nick Hermes (Grayslake, Ill.) has been named the Midwest Lacrosse Conference's offensive player of the week for his effort in the Panthers’ 24-2 victory against Bethany College (W.Va.), Saturday, March 9.

Hermes, an attacker, scored a school-record eight goals to lead Hanover to its most-lopsided victory in the three-year history of the program.

He is the first athlete in the team's history to earn a conference player-of-the-week honor.

Hermes scored eight goals on 13 shots. He netted his first goal late in the first quarter and added two goals in the second period. He scored three in the third quarter and two early in the fourth.

In the win, the Panthers set school single-game records for goals (24), shots (64), shots on goal (46) and ground balls (55).

This season, Hermes leads Hanover’s offensive attack with 11 goals on just 22 attempts at the net (50%). He also has one assist and four ground balls.

The Panthers, 1-3 this season, open Midwest Lacrosse Conference action Saturday, March 16, on the road against Aurora University (Ill.). The match will begin at noon (CST) in Aurora, Ill.
