Sophomore Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) placed sixth among 90 athletes to lead Hanover College's men's golf team at the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) Invitational. The tournament - limited to 18 holes by weather - was held Saturday, March 23, at the Ashton Oaks Golf Club in North Bend, Ohio.
Geary fired a five-over 77 on the par-72, 6,665-yard course to pace Hanover, which totaled 335 strokes to finish eighth out of 13 schools in the tournament.
Centre College (Ky.) posted a collective round of 298 to claim the team title. Host Mount St. Joseph was second with a 313 and Davenport University (Iowa) finished third with a 314.
Junior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Nico Mingione (Lexington, Ind.) and junior Terry Smith (Peru, Ind.) finished within two strokes of each other. Bader placed 51st after posting an 85. Mingione tied for 54th with an 86, while Smith fired an 87 to wind up 57th.
The second round of the event was slated for Sunday, March 24, but was cancelled due to deteriorating weather with an approaching winter storm.
