The Hanover College men’s golf team is third overall after the opening round of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Invitational. The 36-hole tourney is being held, Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14, at Rea Park Golf Course in Terre Haute, Ind.
Hanover totaled 302 strokes to land behind only Transylvania University (Ky.) and DePauw University in the 10-team field. Transylvania fired a seven-over 295, while DePauw posted a 300.
Junior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) turned in a one-under-par 71 to lead seven Hanover athletes who posted scores in the 70s. Bader is tied with Franklin College's Griffen Brown for second place.
Sophomore Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) is 12th after an opening-round 76 on the 6,482-yard course. Senior Marcus El (Indianapolis, Ind.) is one stroke back with a 77.
Sophomores Nico Mingione (Lexington, Ind.) and Austin Robinson (Hagerstown, Ind.) tied for 28th place. Each player fired a six-over 78.
Sophomore Matt Ehman (Noblesville, Ind.) is tied for 35th after his 79.
Transylvania’s Hunter Frazier shot a two-under-par 70 to lead the 78-athlete field.
