Hanover College has been picked to place fourth in the battle for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's 2013 volleyball championship.
Hanover, guided by 15th-year head coach Peter Preocanin, received 62 points in a polling of the HCAC’s 10 head coaches.
The College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) picked up 88 points to land atop the preseason poll. The Lions also received four of 10 available first-place votes. Transylvania University (Ky.) was second with 81 points, including five first-places votes. Defiance College (Ohio) was third in the poll with 77 points.
Hanover posted an 18-14 record last season and placed fifth in the Heartland Conference with a 5-4 record.
The Panthers tip off the 2013 season Friday-Saturday, Aug. 30-31, with four matches in the Maryville College (Tenn.) Invitational in Maryville, Tenn.
The squad's home debut will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, against Thomas More College (Ky.) in Collier Arena.
Hanover's first Heartland Conference match of the season will be Saturday, Oct. 5, at Manchester University in North Manchester, Ind.
