Hanover College's women’s cross country team has been selected to finish second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this fall.

Hanover's squad received 90 points in the league's preseason poll, including one first-place vote.

Manchester University was picked first in the coaches' poll with 97 points, including eight first-place votes. Franklin College was third with 83 points and also received a first-place vote.

The Heartland Conference championship is slated for Saturday, Nov. 2, in Defiance, Ohio.

Hanover will open its 2013 season, Saturday, August 31, at the Asbury University (Ky.) Chick-fil-A Invitational in Wilmore, Ky.

The Panthers will host the annual Madison Kiwanis Invitational, Saturday, Sept. 7, as well as the NCAA Pre-Nationals, Saturday, Oct. 5.

Both races will allow teams from across the U.S. to race on the course prior to Saturday, Nov. 23, when Hanover hosts the NCAA III National Championships.
