Hanover College’s men’s cross country team opened its 2013 campaign with a third-place finish at the Asbury University (Ky.) Chick-fil-A Invitational.
The Panthers totaled 55 points to land just one behind Georgetown University (Ky.), which placed second with 54. Campbellsville University (Ky.) had the first three runners to cross the finish line and claimed first place in the six-team field with 35 points.
Sophomore Ben Franke (Seymour, Ind.) paced Hanover with a top-10 finish. Franke was eighth among 54 athletes with a time of 17:45.0 on the five-kilometer course.
Junior Logan Wells (Scottsburg, Ind.) posted a time of 17:51.0 for 10th place. Freshman Jake Hally (Indianapolis, Ind.) was 11th in 17:54.2 and sophomore Drew Elston (Carmel, Ind.) followed in 12th in 18:05.8. Freshman Frank Baracani-Thomas (Vincennes, Ind.), who placed 16th, capped Hanover’s scoring with a time of 18:19.4.
Campbellsville junior Brett Pierce was first overall in 16:46.1.
