Panthers blank Berea to even record

Hanover College’s men’s soccer team scored three times in the final 20 minutes to pull away for a 3-0 win against Berea College (Ky.) in the Transylvania University (Ky.) Showcase.

Hanover, now 1-1, snapped a scoreless tie in the 72nd minute on a goal from junior midfielder Matt Grau (Cincinnati, Ohio). Junior defender Drew Servais (Carmel, Ind.) assisted on the tally.

The Panthers bumped the lead to 2-0 when junior forward Matt Flora (Scipio, Ind.) punched in a penalty kick.

Sophomore defender Jacob Thomsen (Holte, Denmark) capped Hanover’s scoring with an unassisted goal late in the match.

The Panthers earned a 16-9 advantage in shots and 7-1 in corner kicks.

Junior goalie Trevor Korfhagen (Cincinnati, Ohio) notched a pair of saves in the shutout.
