Hanover College’s women’s soccer squad was handed its first loss of the season with a 2-0 setback against Centre College (Ky.) in Danville, Ky.
The loss snaps Hanover's season-opening four-match winning streak and drops the squad to 4-1 on the season.
Centre (4-1) converted twice from inside the 18-yard box. The Colonels, which had a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks, converted a header off a corner in the 16th minute to get on the scoreboard, then used a crossing pass to set up the final goal late in the 54th minute.
Hanover was limited to two shots on goal and had just three shots in the contest. The Panthers had one attempt at the net in the second period.
Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Cole (Mason, Ohio) faced 23 shots in the match and piled up a season-high nine saves.
