Alvis goal lifts Panthers to OT victory

Sophomore forward Rachel Alvis (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored in the 105th minute to lift Hanover College’s women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win at Spalding University (Ky.).

The triumph marks Hanover’s fifth in a row against Spalding (2-1), dating back to the 2005 season. The Panthers improve to 5-1 with the victory.

Hanover fired six shots in overtime and finished with a 24-14 advantage in shots.

Alvis, who has two game-winning goals this season, accounted for one-third of the Panthers’ attempts by launching a career-high eight at the twine.

Sophomore netminder Morgan Cole (Mason, Ohio) had five saves to key Hanover’s defense.
