Junior Brooke McKay (Carmel, Ind.) earned medalist honors and Hanover College’s women’s golf squad captured the team championship at the Manchester University Fall Invitational. The 18-hole event was played at the Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash, Ind.
Hanover totaled 336 strokes to post a 14-shot win against Trine University, which finished second with 350. Indiana Wesleyan University was third among nine schools with 357.
McKay placed first for the second time in the past three tournaments, while senior Sloane Hamilton (Mason, Ohio) and freshman Brittany Gingerich (Millersburg, Ind.) each finished in the top six to spur Hanover to its second team crown this fall.
McKay fired an 80 on the par-72, 5,858-yard course to land one stroke in front of host Manchester’s Lauren Byers (81).
Hamilton was third in the 49-golfer field with an 83 and Gingerich tied for sixth with an 84. Sophomore Erika Shepherd (Jeffersonville, Ind.) rounded out the Panthers’ scoring with an 89.
Freshman Devan Smith (Depauw, Ind.), playing as an individual, recorded a 10th-place finish with an 87.
