Eight points proved to be the difference as Hanover College’s volleyball team lost a non-conference match at Franklin College in four sets.
Hanover fell to the Grizzlies 26-24, 27-25, 26-28, 26-24, to slip to 4-7 on the season. The result marks the first time since Sept. 5, 2008, the Panthers played a match in which all sets were decided by two points. The squad lost that date to Centre College (Ky.), 25-23, 26-24, 25-23.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.), junior outside hitter Sarah Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) and sophomore outside hitter Rachel Regenauer (Peewee Valley, Ky.) each reached double digits in kills to lead the Panthers’ offense.
Rachel Hasewinkel tallied a match-high 18 kills. Sarah Hasewinkel had a season-best 10 kills, while Regenauer also totaled 10 kills.
Sophomore setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) had 23 assists and freshman setter Shelby Hart (Crestwood, Ky.) chipped in 10.
Senior return specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) piled up a season-high 32 digs. Sophomore Maddie Hartman (Madison, Ind.) added a career-best 21 digs.
Sophomore middle hitter Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the front row defense with four block assists.
Franklin evened its record at 5-5 with the win.
