Hanover College’s women’s tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches on the road against Oakland City University and Brescia University (Ky.).
Hanover, now 4-2 this season, defeated Oakland City, 7-2, in Oakland City, Ind., then was edged by Brescia, 5-4, in Owensboro, Ky.
Freshmen Emily Miller (Nashville, Ind.) and Molly Miller (Nashville, Ind.) paired for an 8-5 victory against Oakland City's Jordan Brown and Ashley Forbes at No. 3 doubles to get the Panthers rolling.
Hanover followed with wins in all six singles matches to notch the team's fourth win of the season.
Freshman Mallory Noble (Fishers, Ind.) and sophomore Kelsey Jones (Hanover, Ind.) each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins to lead the singles effort.
Noble defeated the Maple Leafs’ Lauren Schnarr at No. 4. Jones handled Brown in a clash at No. 5.
Hanover trailed Brescia, 3-0, after doubles and rallied before falling 5-4 in the team’s second match of the day.
Freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.) held off the Bearcats’ Alejandra Matiz, 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (8), to claim a triumph at No. 1 singles.
Jones, sophomore Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) and junior Kalynne Miller (Greenwood, Ind.) collected wins for the Panthers at Nos. 4-6 singles.
Jones beat Brescia’s Emily Hellinger 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4. Poston defeated Tarsila Duck 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. Miller knocked off LeAnne Myers 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6.
