Women's tennis shuts out Defiance

The Hanover College women’s tennis team won at Defiance College (Ohio) 9-0 to move to 7-2 overall. The Panthers remain unbeaten in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a record of 4-0.

Senior Danielle Miller (Fairway, Kansas) won versus Defiance’s Tasha Brown 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 spot.

Freshman Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.) defeated Savannah Marquez 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Miller and Spicer also paired to defeat Brown and Nicole Tank 8-1 at the No. 1 doubles position.

Freshman Mallory Noble (Fishers, Ind.) beat Tank in singles 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Sophomore Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.) also won against the Yellow Jackets’ Maria Weber 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot.

Noble and Poston paired in doubles to beat Marquez and Weber 8-1 in the No. 2 doubles position.

Junior Kalynne Miller (Greenwood, Ind.) and senior Kathleen Brinegar (Noblesville, Ind.) paired to defeat Kayla Miller and Haley Kuhlman 8-0 at the No. 3 doubles spot.

Freshman Kelly Gelbach (Wilmington Ohio) won against Kuhlman 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 slot and freshman Kirby Lantz (Greenville, Ohio) beat Miller 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 position to round out singles.

Defiance moved to 0-5 with the loss, including an 0-5 record in the Heartland Conference.
