Panthers rally, but fall in five at Spalding

Hanover College’s volleyball squad rallied from a two-set deficit, but dropped a match in five at Spalding University (Ky.).

Hanover lost the first two sets (25-15, 25-19), but rebounded to claim the third and fourth sets (26-24, 26-24). Spalding (6-8) earned the match victory in the fifth set, 15-10.

Sophomore Nicole Blevins (McCordsville, Ind.) led the Panthers with a career-high 12 kills. Classmate Rachel Regenauer (Peewee Valley, Ky.) added 11.

Sophomore setter Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) fueled the offense with 21 assists and two service aces, while freshman Shelby Hart (Crestwood, Ky.) tallied 11 assists.

Junior outside hitter Sarah Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) added three aces and sparked Hanover’s defense with two solo blocks, four block assists and five digs.

Senior return specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) led the back row with 15 digs.

Hanover fell to 8-11 overall with the setback.
