Hanover College’s women’s soccer defeated Manchester University, 2-1, in their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener in North Manchester, Ind.
Hanover, unbeaten in its last five matches, moved to 8-1-1 overall on the season.
Freshmen forward Anna Cornacchione (Cincinnati, Ohio) gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the contest. The goal marks her team-leading fourth of the season.
Sophomore midfielder Sirena Isadore (Cincinnati, Ohio) increased Hanover’s advantage to 2-0 with a goal in the 27th minute of play. She was assisted by freshmen Jessica Comorosky (Loveland, Ohio) on the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Cole (Mason, Ohio) tied her career-high with nine saves in the match.
The Panthers outshot the Spartans 24-14. Alvis led the attack with 10 attempts at the net.
The loss was the third in a row for Manchester, which falls to 4-6-1 after the loss.
