Hanover’s men’s soccer team kicked off it Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a 2-0 shutout against Manchester University. The match was played in North Manchester, Ind.
Freshmen forward Austin Bush (Washington, Ind.) tallied a goal and an assist to lead Hanover's charge.
Bush, who has three goals this season, scored in the 63rd minute for the Panthers' first goal. He was assisted by sophomore midfielder Joaquin Acuna (Santiago, Chile).
In the 72nd minute, Bush fed freshmen midfielder Matthew Eldridge (Louisville, Ky.) for Hanover's second goal.
Hanover overcame the Spartans in a chippy match that featured 37 fouls.
The Panthers also outshot Manchester 11-5.
With the victory, Hanover evens its record at 5-5-1. The loss was the second in a row for Manchester, which dips to 1-7-2.
