Senior Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) and junior Josh Green (Beaumaris, Australia) have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s athletes of the week in their respective sports.
Justus was recognized as the HCAC’s volleyball defensive player of the week after leading Hanover to league victories against Franklin College and Anderson University last week.
A return specialist, Justus totaled 43 digs and three aces in two matches, averaging 6.1 digs per set.
She had 22 digs and two aces in a three-game sweep of Franklin, Oct. 23. The followed with 21 digs and an ace in a four-game triumph at Anderson, Oct. 26.
The Panthers have reeled off five consecutive wins to stand at 14-13 overall and 5-2 in the conference heading into the final week of the regular season.
Green was named the Heartland Conference’s football special teams player of the week for his efforts in Hanover’s come-from-behind 25-21 victory at Defiance College (Ohio), Oct. 26.
A punter, Green averaged 36.6 yards per kick in the win, including a 52-yard boot. He landed three punts inside the 20-yard-line, including two within the Defiance three-yard-line. One of those punts led to a second-quarter safety.
Hanover has won three consecutive games to improve to 3-4 overall this season. The Panthers are 3-2 in the HCAC and will face Earlham College at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, in Richmond, Ind.
