The Hanover College volleyball team advanced to the championship match of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 25-20, 26-24, 25-21 victory against top seed Defiance College (Ohio) . The HCAC semifinal was held Saturday, Nov. 11, in Defiance, Ohio.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) paced the Panthers, tying teammate Rachel Regenauer (Pewee Valley, Ky.) for match-high honors with 10 kills to accompany 15 digs, one ace and one assist.
Senior defensive specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) also reached double-digits in digs with 14. Justus added two aces and an assist.
Sophomore Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied two solo blocks. Nicole Blevins (McCordsville,Ind.) and Sarah Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.) added three and four.
Two players piloted the passing game as sophomore Alli Deaton (Lexington, Ky.) and freshman Molly Murphy (Hilliard, Ohio) collected 16 and 19 assists, respectively.
With the win, the Panthers improve to 16-15 and will face Transylvania University (Ky.) or Bluffton University (Ohio) in the championship Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.
