Hanover College’s volleyball team fell to Bluffton University (Ohio) in the championship match of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s post-season tournament.
Hanover, the No. 5 seed, lost to Bluffton 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 25-11 to end its season with a 16-16 record. The effort marks the program’s fourth consecutive season with at least 16 victories.
Sophomores Rachel Regenauer (Peewee Valley, Ky.), Rachel Hasewinkel (Sheridan, Ind.), Nicole Blevins (McCordsville, Ind.) and Maggie Huffer (Indianapolis, Ind.) combined for 30 kills to lead the Panthers’ attack.
Regenauer posted a team-best 10 kills. Hasewinkel tallied seven kills and 12 digs. Blevins added seven kills, while Huffer had six kills and four block assists.
Senior defensive specialist Kylie Justus (Crawfordsville, Ind.) notched a team-high 22 digs. She caps her career ranked second in school history with 2,108 digs.
Bluffton, the tourney’s No. 6 seed, earns the Heartland Conference’s automatic berth in the NCAA III tournament. The Beavers are now 16-18 overall.
