Junior Briahna Chambers (Bell, Texas) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s women's field athlete of the week.
A jumper and sprinter for Hanover College's indoor track & field team, Chambers was tabbed as the Heartland Conference’s top women’s indoor field athlete after her performance at the Anderson University Indoor Invitational, Feb. 8.
Chambers set a Hanover school record and tied Anderson's fieldhouse record with a first-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.38 meters. The effort is the 22nd-best distance in the country this winter.
In addition to the long jump victory, Chambers set a fieldhouse record in the 60-meter dash, winning with a time of 8.06 seconds. She also anchored Hanover’s 4x200-meter relay team, which posted a first-place finish in 1:52.50.
Hanover is slated to compete in the DePauw University Invitational, Saturday, Feb. 15. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. in Greencastle, Ind.
