Hanover College’s women’s basketball squad posted a 71-52 triumph against Anderson University to hand Molly Jones her 250th career victory as the Panthers’ head coach.
Junior forward Megan Caudill (Richmond, Ind.) came off the bench to tally 15 points and a career-high 12 rebounds to spark Hanover to its 10th consecutive win. Senior forward Elyse Weddle (Bloomfield, Ind.) added 12 points and five rebounds to highlight Hanover’s Senior Day festivities.
Sophomore guard Kelsey Block (Madison, Ind.) and freshman guard Jessie Davidson (Lexington, Ind.) notched 11 points apiece, while sophomore guard Ashley Malloy (Salem, Ind.) chipped in 10 for the Panthers, now 15-8 overall and 13-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Hanover jumped out to a 22-2 lead eight minutes into the contest and held a double-digit lead through the remainder of the contest.
Davidson scored all 11 of her points and Caudill netted eight to help the Panthers take a 35-18 lead at the intermission.
Weddle scored twice from inside and Malloy later drilled a three-pointer as Hanover increased the cushion to 25 points (50-25) with 12:13 left in the game.
Freshman guard Carly Bentz (Brookville, Ind.) and Malloy drained back-to-back three-pointers to keep the lead at 25 points (64-39) with 5:48 on the clock.
Anderson outscored the Panthers 13-7 down the stretch for the final margin.
Jones is now 250-164 in 16 seasons on the Panthers’ sidelines. She has 384 victories as a collegiate head coach, including 134 wins in 11 seasons at Marian University.
Hanover was 28-of-64 from the field (43.8%) and outrebounded the Ravens 43-41 with 12 offensive boards.
Shelby Shaffer scored 18 points to pace Anderson, now 2-21 overall and 1-15 in the league.
