Hanover College’s baseball team was shut out by Augustana University (Ill.), 12-0, as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Fla.
Augustana (2-1) used six hits and two errors to build a 9-0 lead after two innings. The Vikings added three more runs with four hits in the fifth inning for the final margin.
Hanover was limited to three hits in the seven-inning contest.
Freshman shortstop Alec Dunn (Louisville, Ky.) picked up two base hits in his first collegiate start, while junior designated hitter D.C. Craig (Carrollton, Ky.) also reached base twice. Craig notched his team-leading fourth hit of the season and was hit by a pitch.
Junior pitcher Alex Lantz (Indianapolis, Ind.) was tagged with the loss after working six innings on the mound. Lantz (0-1) allowed 13 hits and 12 earned runs. He walked two and tallied a pair of strikeouts.
