Softball splits twinbill with Alma

Hanover College’s softball team split a doubleheader against Alma College (Mich.). The contests were played as part of the Dot Richardson Spring Games at the National Training Center Softball Complex in Clermont, Fla.

Hanover fell to Alma, 12-8, in the first game of the doubleheader. The Panthers, now 3-3 this season, edged the Scots, 4-2, in the second contest.

Freshman uility Gabrielle Ritchey (Loogootee, Ind.) and senior first baseman Megan Hogston (Aurora, Ind.) combined for five hits in the opener. Ritchey collected three singles. Hogston doubled and also had a base hit.

Junior pitcher Lean Kemmerer (North Vernon, Ind.) tallied nine strikeouts to pick up the victory in the second game of the twinbill.

Ritchey had two singles and sophomore catcher Victoria Wilson (Camby, Ind.) swatted a double.

Alma is now 3-3 this season after the split.
