Hanover College’s softball team raised its record to 5-3 with a pair of victories in the Dot Richardson Spring Games at the National Training Center Softball Complex in Clermont, Fla.
Hanover earned a 4-3 victory against Lyndon State College (Vt.) in the day’s first contest, then rolled to a 9-1 triumph against Johnson State College (Vt.) in the second tilt.
Freshman pitcher Anna Phillippe (New Palestine, Ind.) allowed four hits in five innings and junior Leah Kemmerer (North Vernon, Ind.) tossed the final two innings to contain Lyndon State’s offense.
Sophomore catcher Victoria Wilson (Camby, Ind.) had two singles and knocked in the eventual winning run. Freshman utility Gabrielle Ritchey (Loogootee, Ind.) and junior infielder Danielle Merrick (Eminence, Ind.) also had a pair of base hits.
In the win against Johnson State, junior hurler Christina Davidson (Cincinnati, Ohio) limited the Badgers to just four hits and fanned six to earn the victory.
Senior utility Shelby Overton (Greenwood, Ind.) and Merrick each notched a single and double to lead the Panthers’ attack.
