Juniors Josh Green (Beaumaris, Australia) and Addison Sears (Louisville, Ky.) have been selected the Midwest Lacrosse Conference’s offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
The duo led Hanover to victories in four matches last week, marking the first four-game winning streak in school history.
Green, an attacker, totaled 17 goals, five assists and 13 ground balls to pick up the conference’s offensive player-of-the-week award.
He tied a school record with eight goals in a 17-8 MLC triumph against the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio), March 10. He followed that performance with four goals and two assists in a 15-7 win at Wilmington College (Ohio), March 12.
Green netted two goals and dished out two assists in a 17-4 conference victory against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, March 15. He capped the week with three goals to lead a 13-7 win against Baldwin-Wallace University (Ohio), March 16.
Sears, a goaltender, posted a 4-0 record in the net for Hanover to earn the league’s defensive player-of-the-week honor.
He allowed just 16 goals in four outings, totaling 23 saves and a .590 save percentage.
Sears had seven saves in three quarters of action in the victory against Mount St. Joseph, then followed that effort with five saves in two quarters against Wilmington.
He had one save in the home win against the Milwaukee School of Engineering and closed the week with 10 saves in the triumph against Baldwin-Wallace.
Hanover, with a school single-season record six wins, is off to a 6-1 start this season.
The Panthers rank 21st in the nation in scoring with 13.4 goals per match. Junior attacker Nick Hermes (Grayslake, Ill.) is second in the country with 28 goals. The squad is 44th overall with just 6.9 goals allowed per contest.
