Golfers hold four stroke lead

Hanover College’s men’s golf team holds a four-stroke lead midway through the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Invitational. The opening round of the 36-hole event was played at Hulman Links in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hanover totaled 307 strokes to land four shots in front of Wabash College (311) to lead the eight-school field. Thomas More College (Ky.) and host Rose-Hulman are tied for third place with 314.

Senior Robert Bader (Louisville, Ky.) is tied for second place after an opening-round 75 to lead Hanover. Junior Patric Geary (Clarksville, Ind.) and freshman Johnny Vidal (Harrison, Ohio) share eighth place, just two shots back, with a five-over 77.

Junior Matt Ehman (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman P.J. Greene (Mason, Ohio) are tied for 12th place. Each turned in a first-round 78 on the 6,775-yard course.

Rose-Hulman’s Sanders Park posted a 74 to sit atop the individual leaderboard. In addition to Bader, Wabash’s Seth Hensley, Thomas More’s Michael Marcagi and Defiance College’s Mike Ross each fired a 75 to share second place.
