Hanover College’s women’s tennis team continued its preparation for the 2014 NCAA III national championships with a non-conference match at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Hanover raised its record to 15-5 overall this year with a 7-2 triumph against Rose-Hulman. The Panthers posted victories in two of the three doubles matches before claiming wins at Nos. 1-5 singles.
Freshmen Mackenzie Spicer (Indianapolis, Ind.), Mallory Noble (Fishers, Ind.) and Kirby Lantz (Greenville, Ohio), along with sophomore Allison Poston (Attica, Ind.), each earned singles and doubles victories.
Spicer defeated Rose-Hulman’s Marie Stettler, 8-4, at No. 1. Noble posted an 8-4 win against Suzana Mohd at No. 2. Poston defeated the Engineers’ Paige Cook, 8-3, at No. 3 and Lantz earned an 8-2 triumph against Lauren Reberger at No. 5.
Sophomore Shelby Williamson (Ellettsville, Ind.) capped Hanover’s singles’ wins with an 8-1 decision against Lauren Miller at No. 4.
Noble and Poston combined for an 8-0 victory against Cook and Stettler at No. 1 doubles. Lantz and Spicer teamed to defeated Mohd and Kylie McCollum, 8-3, at No. 2.
Rose-Hulman dropped to 9-4 with the setback.
