Season wraps with setback at Transylvania

The Hanover College men’s tennis squad wrapped up its spring season with an 8-1 loss to Transylvania University (Ky.) in Lexington, Ky.

Junior Brian Clark (Greenfield, Ind.) and sophomore Joshua Ruse (Brownsburg, Ind.) posted an 8-5 victory No. 5 doubles against Transylvania’s Dylan Conner and Patrick Richardson.

The Panthers fell in matches at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.

Senior Jordan Myers (Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore Reid Clark (Greenfield, Ind.), playing in the No. 1 doubles slot, were edged, 8-6, by Robert Albrecht and Josh Buckman. Junior Andrew Laubner (Elkhart, Ind.) and freshman Nathan Jones (Richmond, Ind.) were blanked at No. 3, 8-0, by the Pioneers’ Steven Mayborg and Reza Haider.

Hanover dropped the six singles matches.

Reid Clark lost to Albrecht 6-1, 6-3 in a battle at No. 1. Myers, in his final collegiate match, fell to Buckman 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Jones was beaten at No. 6 by Transylvania's Seth Gannon, 6-2, 6-2.

The Panthers cap the season 4-11 overall and 2-6 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference,
