Junior Briahna Chambers (Bell, Texas) has qualified for the NCAA III national championships in the long jump. The NCAA's meet will be held in Delaware, Ohio May 23-25.
Chambers, the Hanover College indoor and outdoor record holder in the event, leapt 5.67 meters (18-feet, 7.25-inches) at the DePauw Outdoor Invitational April 5 to qualify for the championship. Her jump ranks 16th in the country.
She is the second track & field athlete to qualify for the NCAA championship in college history. Leah Peelman, a 2005 Hanover graduate, earned all-America honors as a senior after placing fourth in the 10,000-meter run.
Chambers will compete in the long jump Thursday, May 23, at 3:30 p.m.
