Softball Coaches
Michelle Allmendinger, Softball Coach
Michelle Allmendinger is in her third season as head softball coach at Hanover College. Allmendinger, a former NCAA Division III athlete and coach, came to Hanover after one year at GateWay Community College (Ariz.).
Allmendinger is a 1997 magna cum laude graduate of Knox College (Ill.) and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education and English while competing in both softball and tennis for the Prairie Fire.
After graduation, she taught English at Galesburg High School (Ill.) while serving as head women's tennis coach and assistant softball coach with the Knox athletic program.
She left teaching in 2001 to attend graduate school and, eventually, coach on a full-time basis. She earned a master's degree in human kinetics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2003, with a specialty in the psychology and sociology of sport.
Allmendinger joined the staff at Gateway Community College in 2004 to help launch the Geckos' fast-pitch softball program. She also served as the college's assistant athletic director.
Additionally, Allmendinger has prior experience as a youth tennis and softball instructor in Wisconsin, Illinois and Maine.
Megan Smalley, Assistant Coach
Megan Smalley is in her first season as an assistant with Hanover's softball program.
A 2005 graduate of Campbellsville University (Ky.), Smalley comes to Hanover after serving as an assistant coach with the softball program at Presentation Academy in Louisville, Ky.
She was a four-year member of Campbellsville's volleyball team. She served as the Tigers' captain as a junior and senior.
