Hanover places fourth at HCAC championships
The Hanover College women's golf squad finished fourth at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship. The 36-hole tournament was held Oct. 10-11 at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky.
Sophomore Molly Burpo (Martinsville, Ind.) earned all-conference honors for the second consecutive season to lead Hanover, which totaled 737 strokes (372-365).
Burpo posted a 173 (91-82) to finish sixth overall in the tournament. With a second-round 82, she moved up eight spots after sitting in 14th place with an opening round 91 on the par-71, 5,863-yard course.
Freshman Becky Roberts (Avon, Ind.) turned a 184 (87-97) and placed 14th for the Panthers, while sophomore Paige Schroeder (Jasper, Ind.) was just one spot behind in 15th with a 185 (94-91).
Freshman Bridget Neal (Fort Thomas, Ky.) rounded out Hanover's scoring with a 200 (105-95). Sophomore Natosha Wood (Columbia City, Ind.) shot a 201 in the two-day tourney (100-101).
Franklin College captured the Heartland Conference's team championship with 676 strokes (334-342). Host Transylvania University (Ky.) finished second with a 678 (345-333).
Transylvania's Megan Foley was the HCAC's individual medalist with a 155 (77-78). Foley defeated teammate Janca Millett by seven strokes to win the title.
