HCAC honors four from tennis program 
Head coach Michelle Allmendinger and three members of the Hanover College women's tennis squad have earned post-season honors from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Seniors Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) and Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.), with sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.), were each named to the all-conference team by the HCAC's nine head coaches. Allmendinger was honored as the league's coach of the year.

Fleschner and Gantz each earned all-conference recognition for the fourth consecutive season. Parry-Lemon was honored for the second straight year.

Playing in the No. 1 position, Fleschner posted a 7-4 overall record. She was 6-2 in Heartland Conference singles matches.

Gantz, in the No. 2 slot, finished the HCAC slate with an 8-0 singles record. She was 8-2 overall on the season.

Fleschner and Gantz combined for a 5-6 mark as the Panthers' No. 1 doubles team. They were 5-3 in conference doubles matches.

Parry-Lemon, who played in the No. 3 spot for Hanover, finished the season with a 7-4 singles mark, including a 6-2 record in league matches.

Pairing with freshman Alli Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) and Lauren Wilson (Franklin, Ind.), Parry-Lemon was 6-0 in HCAC doubles matches. She was 6-3 in doubles action overall. 

Allmendinger guided Hanover to its first Heartland Conference regular-season championship since 2001. The Panthers posted an 8-0 record in league matches and advanced to the semifinals of the HCAC tournament. The squad finished 8-3 overall.

Season ends with semifinal loss to Manchester 
The Hanover College women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Manchester College in the semifinals of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The battle was played Friday, Oct. 17, at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis, Ind.

Hanover, the top seed in the tournament, put itself in an early hole with losses in all three doubles matches. The Panthers rallied with two wins in singles play before falling to the Spartans.

Senior Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) earned a 6-3, 6-4, victory against Manchester's Milli Ridoutt at No. 1. Freshman Allie Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) posted a 6-2, 6-2, win against the Spartans' April Erxleben at No. 4.

Hanover captured the HCAC's regular-season title with an 8-0 record. The Panthers, under head coach Michelle Allmendinger, completed the campaign with an 8-3 overall mark.

Manchester (7-5) will square off against Franklin College (9-4) in the league's championship match. The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCAA III national tournament in the spring.

Gantz and Schroeder earn HCAC honors
Senior tennis player  Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) and freshman golfer Paige Schroeder (Jasper, Ind.) have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference athletes of the week in their respective sports.

Gantz earned the HCAC honor after posting two key singles victories in the past week. Schroeder won the golf honor after winning two tournaments for the Panthers last week.

Gantz, playing in the No. 2 position, raised her record to 8-0 in league singles matches this season with two wins. She edged Franklin College's Emily Ruch, a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, and posted a 6-1, 6-0, triumph against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology's Megan Chann. Both matches were played Oct. 4 in Terre Haute, Ind.

With the team wins, Hanover's tennis squad nailed down the HCAC's regular-season tennis championship and will be the top seed in the conference's post-season tournament Oct. 17.

Schroeder set a Hanover 18-hole record while leading the Panthers at the Centre College (Ky.) Fall Invitational, Oct. 4, in Danville, Ky. She fired a two-over-par 74 to earn medalist honors in the event.

Schroeder also earned medalist honors in a dual match against Oakland City University, Sept. 30, at the Old Capital Golf Course in Corydon, Ind. In that match, she fired a then-school-record 78 to take the top individual honors.

The record-setting 74 erased four strokes off Hanover's previous 18-hole record. Schroeder and freshman Molly Burpo (Martinsville, Ind.) each turned in 78s at meets earlier in the fall.

Hanover College's women's tennis team wrapped up the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's regular-season championship with a 5-4 victory against the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The Panthers' HCAC finale was played, Saturday, Oct. 4, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hanover posted wins in two of the three opening doubles matches, then claimed victories in three singles matches to earn the Panthers' first league crown since 2001. Hanover will be the top seed in the HCAC's four-team post-season tournament, Oct. 17, at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis, Ind.

Senior Madison Basch (Southport, Ind.), sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.) and freshmen Allie Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) and Brittany Batson (Wilmington, Ohio) gave Hanover an early edge with doubles wins against Rose-Hulman.

Parry-Lemon and Gullett handled the Engineers' Kristin Wilson and Katy Zawadski, 8-2, at No. 2. Basch and Batson paired to hold off Maritza Gonzalez and Caitlin Kohli, 8-5, at No. 3.

In singles play, senior  Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.), Parry-Lemon and Gullett each posted victories  to nail down the Panthers' regular-season title.

Gantz handled the Engineers' Megan Chann, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2. Parry-Lemon edged Zawadski, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 3. Gullett defeated Betsy Marshand, 6-2, 6-0.

Panthers handle Franklin in HCAC tilt
The Hanover College women's tennis team continued its string of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victories with a 7-2 win against Franklin College, Saturday, Oct. 4, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Hanover handled the Grizzlies, 7-2, to improve to 7-2 overall and 7-0 in the HCAC.

Senior Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) and freshman Hearther Washburn (Greenwood, Ind.) keyed Hanover's victory with singles victories after first-set tiebreakers.

Gantz edged Franklin's Emily Ruch, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, to win the clash at No. 2. Washburn held off the Grizzlies' Chelsy Gott, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, at No. 5.

Hanover nailed down the victory with three wins in doubles action. Senior Madison Basch (Southport, Ind.) and partner, freshman Brittany Batson (Wilmington, Ohio), completed the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win against Gott and Lindsy Shaw at No. 3.

Hanover remains unbeaten in HCAC
Hanover College's women's tennis squad remained unbeaten in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 5-4 victory against Manchester College. The match was held Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Hanover, with wins in four of the team's last five outings, is now 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the HCAC. The Panthers posted wins in three singles matches and two doubles clashes to edge Manchester.

Senior Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) outlasted the Spartans' Milli Ridoutt, 7-6 (7-4), 7-5, in a battle at No. 1 singles.

Senior Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) and freshman Allie Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) earned singles wins to nail down Hanover's win. Gantz defeated Jordin Yost, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2. Gullett handled Manchester's Brittany Oliver, 6-1, 6-3.

The Panthers opened the match with victories at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

Gullett paired with sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.) to earn an 8-4 win against Manchester's Christa Hunter and Danielle Walker at No. 2. Senior Madison Basch (Southport, Ind.) and freshman Brittany Batson (Wilmington, Ohio) combined for an 8-2 victory against April Erxleber and Nikki Ferguson at No. 3.

Fleschner named HCAC's tennis athlete of the week
Senior Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's women's tennis player of the week.

Fleschner posted two wins to spark Hanover to a 9-0 victory against Defiance College (Ohio) in a HCAC clash Sept. 28, in Defiance, Ohio.  The Panthers' win pushed the squad's record to 5-0 in the Heartland Conference and 5-2 overall.

In the victory against the Yellow Jackets, Fleschner defeated Defiance's Amanda Auzins, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. She also teamed with senior Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) for an 8-4 triumph against the Yellow Jackets' Auzins and Mandi Losby at No. 1 doubles.


Net squad remains unbeaten in HCAC action
Hanover College's women's tennis team remained undefeated in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with two victories Saturday, Sept. 13, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Panthers, now 4-1 overall and 4-0 in the HCAC, edged the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio), 5-4, then shut out Anderson University, 9-0, in the group's second match.

Sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.) and her partner, freshman Lauren Wilson (Franklin, Ind.), notched Hanover's sole doubles victory in the match against Mount St. Joseph. The duo posted a 9-7 win against the Lions' Laura Robison and Brittany Teagle.

Parry-Lemon helped the Panthers win four of the six singles matches with a 6-4, 6-3, win against Mount St. Joseph's Judy Frey at No. 3.

Hanover was victorious in all six singles matches and each of the three doubles matches against Anderson.

Senior Madison Basch (Southport, Ind.) and freshman Brittany Batson (Wilmington, Ohio) paired for an 8-4 triumph against the Ravens' Nicole Newell and Katie Porter at No. 3 doubles.

Basch also earned a 6-1, 6-0, victory against Newell in a clash at No. 6 singles.

Tennis squad falls at Indiana Southeast  
Indiana University Southeast handed Hanover College's women's tennis team its first setback of the season in a dual match Tuesday, Sept. 9, in New Albany, Ind.

Senior Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) and sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind.) each earned singles wins for the Panthers (2-1), but Indiana Southeast (1-0) coasted to a 7-2 victory.

Fleschner, playing in the No. 1 position, defeated the Grenadiers' Britta Oliver, 7-5, 6-1. Parry-Lemon notched a 6-1, 6-4, win against Tabitha Collins at No. 3.

Freshman  Alyssa Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) pushed Indiana Southeast's Kelsey Wisman before falling 3-6, 7-5 (10-8) in a battle at No. 4.

In doubles action, Fleschner and senior Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) were edged, 8-6, by Oliver and Brooklyn Becher at No. 1. Parry-Lemon and Gullett dropped an 8-4 decision to Collins and Emma LaDuke at No. 2.

Hanover sweeps Bluffton, Transy in HCAC tilts  
Hanover College's women's tennis team opened its 2008 dual-match season with a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victories Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Varsity Courts. The Panthers shut out Bluffton University (Ohio), 9-0, and handled Transylvania University (Ky.), 6-3. 

Seniors Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) and Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) keyed the win against Bluffton with individual wins in singles play and a victory in doubles action.

Fleschner, playing in the No. 1 slot, defeated the Beavers' Rachel Huckaba, 6-0, 6-0. Gantz knocked off Bluffton's Katie Welch, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2.

Fleschner and Gantz teamed for an 8-1 win against Huckaba and Rae McKee at No. 1 doubles.

Freshmen Heather Washburn (Greenwood, Ind.) and Alyssa Gullett (Lexington, Ky.) each posted victories in their first collegiate singles outings. Washburn, playing in the No. 5 position, posted a 6-0, 6-0, victory against Bluffton's Sarah Wilkins. Gullett beat the Beavers' Derra Mast 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4.

Gullett also paired with freshman Lauren Wilson (Franklin, Ind.) for an 8-0 win against Welch and Mast at No. 2 doubles.

Hanover notched two doubles wins and four singles victories to knock off Transylvania, 6-3.

Gantz played a role in two match wins against the Pioneers. Gantz defeated Transylvania's Katie Boone 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles. She also teamed with Fleschner for a 9-8 (7-4) win against Boone and Kelsey Fullerson at No. 1 doubles.

Senior Madison Basch (Southport, Ind.) and freshman Brittany Batson (Wilmington, Ohio) combined for an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles against the Pioneers' Kathy Shewmaker and Emily Lynn.

Panthers win three of five in doubles tournament 
Hanover College's women's tennis squad opened its 2008 season with  three victories in five matches during the Hanover Doubles Tournament. The six-team event was held Saturday, August 30, at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex and the Hanover Town Park.

In addition to the Panthers, the tournament featured Bellarmine Unversity (Ky.), University of Indianapolis, Franklin College, Transylvania University (Ky.) and Midway College (Ky.).

Hanover defeated  Franklin, Transylvania and Midway by 3-0 scores. The Panthers were blanked by the University of Indianapolis, 3-0, and lost to Bellarmine 2-1.

Seniors Ali Gantz (Greenwood, Ind.) and Katie Fleschner (Terre Haute, Ind.) notched a 3-2 record playing in the No. 1 position. Sophomore Angela Parry-Lemon (Columbia City, Ind. ) and freshman Alyssa Gullett   (Lexington, Ky.) paired for a 2-1 mark at No. 2.

Parry-Lemon and Gullett also picked up victories teaming with freshman Lauren Wilson (Franklin, Ind.).
