Logar leads multi-sport effort at HCAC finals 
Freshman Rachel Logar (Carmel, Ind.) earned a conference title to help spark Hanover College at the 2008 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships. The meet was held Saturday, April 26, in Anderson, Ind.

Logar posted a first-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles. She earned the HCAC crown by covering the distance in 16.36 seconds and won by nearly one-half second.

Freshman Andrea Thomas (Brazil, Ind.) placed fifth in the women's pole vault with an effort of seven-feet, 8.5-inches. She finished fifth in the long jump for the Panthers with a leap of 14-feet, 5.25-inches.

Sophomores Corry Stewart (Nashville, Tenn.) and Joe Vormohr (Portland, Ind.) led Hanover's men's squad.

Stewart scored in four events at the meet. He placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 42-feet, 3.25-inches. He was sixth in the long jump with an effort of 19-feet, 10.25-inches. He was seventh overall in the high jump with an effort of five-feet, 11.5-inches.

Stewart also helped the Panthers earn points in the men's 4x100-meter relay. Stewart, along with junior Tyler Smith (North Vernon, Ind.), sophomore Justin Guilkey (Fort Thomas, Ky.) and junior Bobby Smart (Coral Springs, Fla.), finished fifth in 44.98 seconds.

Vormohr placed second in the discus with a throw of 144-feet, nine-inches. Senior Luke Keller (Jasper, Ind.) was fifth in the event with a toss of 132-feet, three-inches.

Freshman Seth Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) placed fourth in the shot put with an effort of 45-feet, 6.5-inches. Keller was fifth with 45-feet, 6.25-inches.

Smith and Guilkey each added sixth-place finishes for Hanover. Smith was sixth in the men's 400-meter dash in 51.49 seconds. Guilkey placed sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.60.

Thomas matches pole vault mark at Rose-Hulman 
Freshman Andrea Thomas (Brazil, Ind.) tied the Hanover College record in the women's pole vault to help spur the Panthers at the Rose-Hulman Insitute of Technology Twilight Meet. The competition was held Friday, April 18, in Terre Haute, Ind.

Thomas posted Hanover's best finish in the meet, capturing first place in the pole vault. She vaulted nine-feet, 5.25-inches to match the school mark set by Megan Ridge during the 2000 season.

Freshman Rachel Logar (Carmel, Ind.) placed second in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Logar covered the distance in 16.57 seconds.

Sophomore Justin Guilkey (Fort Thomas, Ky.) led Hanover's men's squad with a 13th-place finish in the 800 meters. Guilkey posted a time of 2:03.96. Junior Seth Blakeslee (Milford, Ind.) was 19th in the event in 2:06.96.

Sophomore Angie Sells (Pekin, Ind.) finished 11th in the women's 3,000 meters. Sells turned in a time of 11:40.37.

2008 Rose-Hulman Twilight Results


Logar and Smith lead harriers at Anderson 
Junior Tyler Smith (North Vernon, Ind.) and freshman Rachel Logar (Carmel, Ind.) each posted third-place finishes in two events to lead Hanover College's track & field teams at the Anderson University Invitational. The meet was held Saturday, April 5, in Anderson, Ind.

Smith finished second in both the 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash for the Panthers. He posted a time of 23.82 seconds in the 200 and covered the 400 meters in 52.98 seconds.

Logar was third in the women's 200-meter dash in 28.73 seconds. She placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.53 seconds.

Sophomore Aislinn Cooper (Franklin, Ind.) and freshman Andrea Thomas (Brazil, Ind.) each turned in third-place efforts for Hanover.

Cooper was third in the women's 800-meters with a time of 2:32.30. Thomas finished third in the women's pole vault with an effort of eight-feet, one-half inch.

Both Hanover College's men's and women's teams placed fifth in the five-team meet. The Panthers tallied 31 points in the women's competition and 19 points in the men's meet.

2008 Anderson Invitational Results


Hanover squads place fifth in home invitational
Both Hanover College's men's and women's track & field teams placed fifth in the 2008 Hanover College Invitational. The annual meet was held Saturday, March 29, at the L.S. Ayres Athletic Complex .

Sophomore Angie Sells (Pekin, Ind.) posted the Panthers' only first-place finish by claiming the top spot in the women's 5,000-meter run. Sells had a time of 19:49.65 in the event.

Junior Emily Cooke (Carmel, Ind.) and freshman Andrea Thomas (Brazil, Ind.) each had second-place finishes for Hanover. Cooke was second in the javelin with a throw of 17.60 meters. Thomas placed second in the pole vault with an effort of 2.59 meters.

Hanover's women's squad placed fifth with 53 points. Manchester College captured the women's team title with 215 points.

In the men's competition, Hanover tallied 81.5 points for its fifth-place finish. Manchester grabbed the team crown with 172 points.

Juniors Tyler Smith (North Vernon, Ind.) and Bobby Smart (Coral Springs, Fla.), along with sophomore Justin Guilkey (Fort Thomas, Ky.), each had second-place finishes for the Panthers.

Smith was second in the men's 400-meters with a time of 51.98 seconds. Smart leaped 1.83 meters to finish second in the high jump. Guilkey placed second in the 800 meters in 2:05.46.
