Leadership for Life – Hanover College Leadership Development Programs
Leadership for Life is a comprehensive leadership development program that includes leadership programming for the college years. Each year is dedicated to exploring different interests or topics of discussion essential for development from beginning of the college experience to graduation. Beginning with Emerging Leaders and culminating with the Real Life 101 series specifically developed for our juniors and seniors, the three separate programs work to engage student leaders on topics pertinent to where you are and where you are going.
Emerging Leaders
If you're a new student to campus, Emerging Leaders is an ideal program for you. Designed to help develop and/or strengthen leadership skills while learning about Hanover College, this program, focuses on aspects of leadership including presentations and discussions on time-management, campus resources, communication, ethics, diversity, and marketing and advertising (oneself and projects), through a six-week workshop series. The series ends with participant groups using what they have learned to plan and carry out a service project. Real hands on learning for leaders who want to get things done and make a difference.
Year 2 Pursue
Discover who you are and what you want to create for yourself in the future
The sophomore year is a year to grab on to many opportunities and begin to pursue what is really of interest to you as well as start focusing on making the most of the time you have left at Hanover. Year 2 Pursue is a program of multiple sessions structured to guide you through your sophomore year. The sessions are chosen according to what you should be thinking about in order to maximize your college experience. From personal leadership style inventories to selecting a major and preparations needed to enter the internship/ "real" job market, these topics, and others, guide you and your fellow sophomore students, in discussion about the common experiences you are having. Engage in dialogue, learn from presenters who have been there and done that, and pursue what you want for your future.
Real Life 101
Real Life 101 is a course for juniors and seniors to prepare them for life after Hanover College. This course provides beneficial advice for mastering interviews for internships, graduate schools, or employment. Subsequent workshops are offered to provide you with the proper knowledge to prepare for your first day of work and tips on remaining professional at all times while on the job. You'll also get long-term financial advice in areas such as understanding taxes, preparing for retirement, and investing in insurance policies.
