Academic / Pre-Professional Organizations

American Chemical Society (ACS)
The objectives of this Chapter shall be to afford an opportunity for students of a chemical science to become better acquainted, to secure the intellectual stimulation that arises from professional association, to obtain experience in preparing and presenting technical material before chemical audiences, to foster a professional spirit among the members, to instill a professional pride in the chemical sciences, and to foster an awareness of the responsibilities and challenges facing the modern chemist.

Association of Computer Machinery (ACM)
The ACM is organized and will be operated exclusively for educational and scientific purposes to promote the following:
• An increased knowledge of and greater interest in the science, design, development, construction, languages, management and applications of modern computing.
• Greater interest in computing and its applications
• A means of communication between persons that have an interest in computing.

Beta Beta Beta: National Biological Society
The purpose of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society shall be to function as an honor and professional society for students of the biological sciences. Its activities shall be designed to stimulate interest, scholarly attainment, and investigation in the biological sciences, and to promote the dissemination of information and new interpretations among students of the life sciences. The Mu Xi chapter is interested in developing activities of biological interest for all students and community members interested in the life sciences.

Geology Club
The purpose of this club is to:
• Introduce the Hanover College community to the science of Geology;
• Promote the understanding of geology among students; and
• Provide opportunities for students to be exposed to geology in non-classroom settings.

Hanover College Economics Society
The purpose of the Hanover Economic Society is to increase students' understanding of the practical applications of economic theory, to expose students to contemporary issues in economics, to give students contacts with professionals in the field of economics, and to increase the general utility students get from the study of economics.

Hanover College Radio Network
The purpose of this organization will be to provide the students and faculty of Hanover College with an opportunity to participate in radio broadcasting. We will give students a chance to gain valuable experience in the broadcasting career field and provide a way for faculty and students to have their voice heard.

Hanover Historical Society
The Hanover Historical Society intends to broaden its horizons and offer opportunities for students to investigate their interests in history, regardless of their other academic pursuits.

Indiana Student Education Association (ISEA)
The purpose of the Association shall be to develop in the professional educators of Indiana an understanding of the education profession, to provide for a united student voice in matters affecting their profession, to influence the conditions under which prospective educators are prepared, to advance the interest and welfare of students preparing for a career in education, to promote and protect human and civil rights, and to stimulate the highest ideals of professional ethics, standards, and attitudes. The ISEA Executive Board has the authority to set goals as they see fit.

Math Club: Delta Theta = Pi
Δθ=Π is organized and will be operated exclusively to promote the following:
• Math and its applications in all fields.
• Greater interest in math.
• A means of communication between persons that have an interest in math.
• Δθ=Π (A complete change or 180 degree turn toward sociability).

Pre Law Club: Sigma lota Lambda
The purpose of the Pre-Law Club shall be threefold:
• First, to provide a forum for members and interested persons to express and exchange ideas and expand their understandings of legal processes.
• Second, to provide insight into the legal profession and increase awareness concerning the same.
• Third, to provide guidance regarding undergraduate courses to consider and LSAT and law school information.

Psychology Club
The purpose of this organization is to promote interest, investigation, and achievement in psychology both on the campus of Hanover College and in its surrounding communities. Furthermore, this organization seeks to provide quality programming dedicated to sincere exploration of psychological issues for all students at Hanover College.

Sociology/ Anthropology Club
The purpose of the Sociology/Anthropology club shall be to take a closer look at society—the way that it operates and changes — and at the people that make up society. We will also try to foster a wide student interest and participation in activities by providing leadership, programs, and service to the surrounding community and to Hanover College.

Student Broadcast Association (SBA)
The ultimate goal of SBA is to provide channel 22 with the highest quality student-produced programming possible and in doing so provide students with opportunities to gain production experience. In the continuing pursuit of this goal, students will learn the fundamental operation of television equipment through the taping of campus events. The culmination of technical and production experience will result in a competent and motivated crew capable of working together to produce original shows employing the expertise of multiple academic departments.
