Service Organizations

Best Buddies
The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. We do this at the college level by matching college student volunteers in mutually enriching friendships with individuals with intellectual disabilities.

College Mentors for Kids (CMFK)
College Mentors for Kids! is dedicated to cultivating ongoing one-on-one relationships between college and elementary aged students through shared experiences on the campus and in the community.

Colleges Against Cancer
Colleges Against Cancer, plan's and hosts a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society on Hanover College's campus once each year, the Relay for Life. It is also to spread advocacy and education about cancer. The small awareness events held on campus will include information on cancer facts and ways to prevent a diagnosis and ways that we as a Hanover College community can make a difference in the fight against cancer. The events and organization will benefit the Hanover College community as they raise awareness about cancer and help the many students, faculty, and staff who know someone with cancer (or have it themselves) to find a place for support and sharing, as well as a way they can help.

Community Steward Initiative (CSI)
Hanover CSI seeks to take seriously the above definition while exploring its meaning in the lives of Hanover students. Acknowledging that we are called to be stewards of God's creation, we ask the question "How can we begin to live up to our calling?" We will approach stewardship on a local, global, and environmental level, exploring the questions: "How can we build meaningful and substantial relationships with our local community?" "How do we determine the needs of our neighbors around the globe?" "How do we live in a way that sustains the environment that sustains us?" Through action, discussion, and prayer, we hope to begin discerning what it means to be a steward of the creation on Hanover's campus.

Habitat for Humanity
The Hanover College Campus Chapter (the "Chapter") has been established to assist Habitat by working with any local affiliate or with Habitat's international headquarters in order to witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
• By working in cooperation with God's people in need to create a better human habitat in which to live and work.
• By working in cooperation with other agencies and groups which have a kindred purpose.
• Through loving acts and the spoken and written word.
• By enabling an expanding number of persons from all walks of life to participate in this ministry.

Love is Needed by Kids (LINK)
• LINK is a big brother/big sister type organization for kids in the surrounding communities that may be less fortunate, and in need of more attention.
• Each LINK child from the community will be matched with two or more Hanover students depending on membership size.
• Scheduled activities will involve all LINK members (Kids and Students). The Hanover students are also expected to take part in other activities on their own, and on a regular basis (at least once a month).

Timmy Club
The purpose of the Timmy Club shall be to promote local, regional, and international service learning. The Timmy Club will strive to connect Hanover College organizations, academic departments, and volunteers to service opportunities by partnering with local, regional, and international organizations. The Timmy Club will seek service activities at Hanover College, in the local community, in Indiana, and in other countries for club members as well as other volunteers. Service will focus towards medical treatment and education, but the Timmy Club will try to serve other needs best as possible in other areas as well.
