Special Interest Groups
Anime
The Anime Club of Hanover College is pledged to bring a sense of Japanese culture to our small College community. Anime, an entertainment medium of Japanese culture, is an entertaining and interesting tool through which we may experience the views of a culture that average college students have no everyday interaction with. In addition to cultural enhancement, Anime Club intends to provide a relaxing retreat from academic stress.
Bacchus
On behalf of the student population of Hanover College, we establish this constitution for BACCHUS, an organization dedicated to providing alcohol-free social activities on campus, educating our peers and our community, boosting awareness of alcohol abuse and sexual assault, and promoting sexual health, physical health and wellness, and responsible behavior within our college community.
Campus Activities Board
The purpose of CAB shall be to:
• Create, organize and implement a variety of co-curricular activities and events in an effort to provide social, recreational, cultural, and educational programs of value for the students of Hanover College.
• Function within the guidelines set forth in the Campus Programming Policies.
• Create and present programming which appeals to the interests of the student body in general and to limited interest groups as well.
• Provide quality activities on campus at prices students can afford (where appropriate).
• Work within the yearly budgeted funds allocated by Student Senate and to use those funds in a manner, which will provide quality activities throughout the entire school year.
• Meet on a regular basis in order to communicate between the different areas of responsibility within the Board, to coordinate the scheduling of events, to assign staffing responsibilities for upcoming events and to encourage creativity, suggestions, and criticisms.
• Serve as a sounding board for the different coordinators as they strive to fulfill their individual responsibilities.
• Schedule campus activities with sensitivity to other programming organizations on campus and in coordination with the campus calendar
• Work closely with the CAB Advisor and the Assistant Director of Student Involvement in regards to campus programming
• Increase student involvement in campus programming
Hanover College Democrats
The purpose of the Hanover College Democrats shall be to:
• Support on campus the policies, platforms, and candidates of the Democratic Party;
• Contribute to the growth and influence of the Democratic Party;
• Emphasize in our actions, the goals of the organization. Those goals being: educating the voters and future voters about what their vote means in a non-partisan manner, promote diversity, and while doing these actions, have fun;
• Sponsor meetings, projects, special and social events to introduce members, Hanover College students, as well as our local community to candidates, political platforms, policies, governmental problems and their possible solutions by responsible spokespersons;
• Further aid the cause of good government in whatever manner shall be deemed advisable; and to
• Strive to integrate the purposes and views of the organization to the Hanover College community.
Hanover College Republicans
The purpose of the HCR shall be to promote the principles of the Republican Party among the students attending Hanover College; to persuade others that the ideals of the Republican Party best represent the spirit of America; to provide a forum for discussion and growth of the Republican Party; to provide service to the Republican Party at all levels; to aid in the election of Republican candidates at all levels of government; and to develop strong leadership abilities and political skills among Republican students as preparation for future service to the Republican Party and to the United States of America.
Hawaii Club
The purpose of the club shall be to:
• Spread aloha (love and caring).
• Aid incoming students from Hawaii in the transition of different cultures and environments.
• Educate those who are interested in the Hawaiian culture.
International Club
The purpose of the club shall be:
• Promote cultural awareness in Hanover College.
• To enlighten the community by presenting different cultural experiences.
• Promote diversity in Hanover College.
Kaleidoscope
The purpose of the club shall be to foster a cultural student interest and participation in activities by providing programs and services of American Ethnic Minority issues.
Love Out Loud
Love Out Loud is an advocacy group against all forms of discrimination. The focus is on issues concerning gays, lesbians, bi-sexual, transgender, and heterosexual allies, and including, but not limited to issues of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, or any other form of discrimination. Our main goals are to:

Nature and Outdoor Club
The purpose of the club shall be to offer Hanover College students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to enjoy outdoor and nature recreation, education, conservation, and community service by providing the following opportunities and resources:
• Meeting other individuals with similar interests
• Offering a wide variety of excursions and opportunities for learning
• Opportunities to share with and teach others about the natural environment and issues pertaining to conservation
• Relieving students of at least a portion of the financial cost of participating in outdoor-related activities sponsored by the club
People for Peace
This organization is dedicated to providing the student body, faculty and staff of Hanover College, as well as the surrounding community, with the means to discuss issues of non-violence. Our intent is to expose alternatives to violence at home and abroad, to educate individuals on the value of non-violence, and to inspire individuals to consider and incorporate these alternatives in their own lives when facing a situation in which conflict may arise.
Shoebox Board
To provide an atmosphere at The Shoebox that is enjoyable for the students, alumni, faculty, and staff of Hanover College. In doing so, The Shoebox Board will uphold the principles of Hanover College and strive to maintain The Shoebox as a usable place for students, student organizations, and the Hanover College Community.
