GREENWOOD, Ind. – After recording six points, and leading the Hanover men’s soccer team to two neutral site victories last weekend, senior Enrico Franchini (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s Player of the Week.
Franchini now has three career HCAC weekly awards in his career, as he picked up two such honors in 2015. Hanover has totaled five player of the week awards over the past four season.
The senior scored one goal in each match this past weekend, assisting Hanover to an unblemished record at the Rob Dreher Classic at Wabash. One of HC’s wins came against nationally ranked Carthage (Wis.) by a score of 4-1.
In the match against Carthage, Franchini scored one goal and added two assists for a total of four points. He then went on to add a goal in the 3-0 win over Monmouth (Ill.) on Sunday evening.
For the season, Franchini is tied for the team lead in goals with three, and is pacing the Panthers with two assists and eight total points. Franchini’s eight points are good enough for second best in the HCAC.
The Panthers, who have won three matches in a row, will welcome Spalding (Ky.) for their home opener at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
