Hanover College will host its 90th-annual Homecoming Oct. 13-14 with an array of on-campus events for all ages. 2017 Homecoming Schedule
This year’s celebration features 13 reunions for class years ending in 2s and 7s, including milestone gatherings for the classes of 1967 (50 years), 1977 (40 years) and 1992 (25 years). In addition, this year’s Homecoming features a Golden Panthers Reunion for the classes of 1952, 1957 and 1967.
Activities begin Friday, Oct. 13, with an opportunity to return to the classroom with professors Deb Whistler (art) and Larry Thornton (history), campus tours and an open house at the Levett Career Center. Evening events include gatherings of the classes of 1967 and 1982. The night ends with the Campus Activity Board's Concert on the Quad featuring hip-hop artist Jack Harlow.
Hundreds of alumni, friends and families will flock to campus Saturday, Oct. 14, for a full slate of events.
The annual run/walk, The Scenic: A 5K with a View, begins at 8:30 a.m. at Alumni Stadium (7:30 a.m. registration). The Barnes and Noble Bookstore will be open and Tinker, the College’s life-sized dinosaur, will be on display. The tailgate lot adjacent to the stadium will be rollicking throughout the day during HanoverFest with alumni, families and football fans, including food, fun and games for all ages.
During the morning and afternoon, Greek houses will offer and wide range of social activities. Reunions for the classes of 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007 and 2012 will be held at various locations on campus. Members of the Champions Club will meet at the stadium and former men’s lacrosse and volleyball athletes will reconnect in the tailgate lot.
Hanover’s football squad will be in action at 1:30 p.m. in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash with Bluffton University. The volleyball squad will face Defiance College in a Heartland Conference match at 5 p.m. in Collier Arena.
In addition to class celebrations, the evening will also feature the Saturday Night Gathering, an all-campus gathering highlighted by music from professors Bill Bettler (communication) and Craig Philipp (chemistry). The party will start at 8 p.m. in the Withrow Activities Center.
Registration will be available for Hanover’s 90th-annual Homecoming on campus Saturday, Oct. 14, from 8-10 a.m. in the J. Graham Brown Campus Center and 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the red tent at the tailgate lot.
Early registration is encouraged to provide accurate numbers for needed space, food and drinks.
