The Hanover College Theatre will present the comedy “Life x 3,” Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 16-19. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. in The Other Place, located in the former Donner Lecture Hall.
Written by Yasmina Reza in 2000, “Life x 3” provides three unique variations on the same event – what happens when a couple arrives one evening early for a dinner party.
Henry, an astrophysicist desperate for a promotion, and his wife, Sonia, an attorney, are coasting through another typical family evening at home with their young son. All changes, however, when there is a knock at the door. Hubert, a key factor in Henry’s career, and his wife, Ines, unexpectedly arrive for the dinner party. With just crackers and chocolates on hand for food, and dreadful news from Hubert, the evening is destined for disaster.
Teeming with subplots, Reza’s work offers the same one-act scene three times. However, each presentation has its own distinctive emphasis, using subtle changes in action and dialogue to produce different results.
Hanover’s production is directed by senior Anna Marie Kemple.
General admission tickets are free, however, patrons are encouraged to reserve seats online in advance. Tickets may be printed or scanned upon entry from a barcode on a mobile phone.
