Hanover College alumni, friends and families will reunite on campus Oct. 5-6 for the 91st-annual Homecoming celebration. This year's event features a wide array of on- and off-campus activities for all ages.
Homecoming 2018 includes 13 gatherings for class years ending in 3s and 8s, highlighted by milestone reunions for the classes of 1968 (50 years), 1978 (40 years) and 1993 (25 years). This year’s celebration also features a Golden Panthers Reunion for the classes of 1953, 1958 and 1968.
Activities begin Friday, Oct. 5, with opportunities to return to the classroom with professors Kate Johnson (philosophy), Steve Steiner (chemistry), Melissa Eden (English), Bryant Stamford (physiology) and Barbara Wahl (mathematics). Campus tours will also be available and alumni are encouraged to attend a dedication of the renovated Overlook at the Point.
Evening events include a welcome reception for alumni, friends and families, a gathering of the class of 1983 and the Campus Activity Board's annual Concert on the Quad featuring indie pop duo Coast Modern.
Homecoming will shift into full gear Saturday, Oct. 6, with a full slate of events and activities.
The Scenic: A 5K with a View, an annual run/walk, starts at 8:30 a.m. at Alumni Stadium (7:30 a.m. registration).
The tailgate lot adjacent to the stadium will thrive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as HanoverFest connects alumni, families and football fans through food and fun for all ages.
Reunions for the classes of 1953, 1958, 1963, 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013 will be held at various locations on campus. Greek houses, meanwhile, will offer a wide range of social activities throughout the day.
During the morning, former volleyball athletes will square off in the Horner Center followed by a reunion near Greenwood Suites. Hanover’s football squad will be in action at 1:30 p.m. in a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash with Earlham College.
Early registration – prior to Sept. 26 - is encouraged to provide accurate numbers for needed space, food and drinks. On-campus registration will also be available Saturday, Oct. 6, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the J. Graham Brown Campus Center and 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the red tent at the tailgate lot.
